Share the Summer 2008 with Cruse Bereavement Care

At Harland & Voss we share each and every summer with one of the many good causes in the areas that we serve. This year’s good cause is Cruse Bereavement Care, and we’ll share the summer with the three local branches of Cruse that do such valuable work in North, West and Central London.

Cruse Bereavement Care is a national charity that exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone suffering bereavement caused by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Approximately 5,500 specially trained volunteer councillors offer emotional and practical support to bereaved people to enable them to understand their experience and to help them cope with the aftermath of bereavement.

Our three local groups are part of a network of 135 branches of Cruse Bereavement Care across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each local branch is completely dependent on donations, and, with training for each volunteer costing around £500, needs to raise many thousands of pounds each year to stay open. Harland & Voss is supporting the following branches:

North London – Tel: 020 8340 1716

Last year the branch received 900 enquiries from people in Islington, Camden, Hackney, Haringey, Barnet and Enfield. The branch, which has over 60 trained volunteers, hopes now to expand its services to the City of London.

Kensington and Chelsea – Tel: 020 8964 3455

The branch, which also covers Westminster, Hammersmith, Fulham and Chiswick, has previously been called on to provide support for relatives of the victims of the London bomb atrocities and the Boxing Day Tsunami. It also provides volunteers to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Richmond Upon Thames – Tel: 020 8876 0417

In 2007, the 40 volunteers covering the borough of Richmond Upon Thames provided 800 hours of counselling to 100 adults and children and assisted a further 400 people with enquiries. The branch has to raise at least £20,000 each year to continue its work.

To support this worthy cause, all you have to do to tell us to donate £1 in your name by completing the form below and sending it to us. We’re hoping for 3,000 completed forms so that we can donate up to £1,000 to each of our three local groups. We will need your postcode to allocate your donation to the local branch of Cruse nearest to you, but we won’t use these details for personalised marketing communications, or pass them on to anyone else. Full terms and conditions appear below.
